Personal message from Sue Doughty: Thanks to the people of Guildford Constituency2.43.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 8th Jun 2005 To all my former constituents I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for supporting me in the recent election. You may be interested to know that that the Conservative Majority is only 347 votes, and that I increased my vote to put me on a level with the top third of elected Members of Parliament. It has been a great privilege to serve the people of the Guildford constituency, which extends from the West Surrey boundary across to the boundary of Farnham. You have all given me a huge challenge in terms of ensuring that as far as possible I was able to represent local views in Parliament, to negotiate with government on specific issues and also to undertake casework on your behalf. I have been welcomed into each group in the community and have made many valued and long lasting friends. I will continue to be involved with local organisations and charities within the non political as well as the political spectrum. There is much to be done in the communities which make up the constituency and I hope to give as much assistance and support as possible. I have had a large number of letters and thanks. We are now closing down as many case files as possible. Where a file contains personal information we are contacting the constituent concerned to check whether the information is to be destroyed, passed back, or forwarded on to the new MP. I will continue to work on some cases where this is the most practical course of action. Thank you once more, not only for recent support, but for the last four years.
