Guildford Liberal Democrats urged the Borough Council to protect the character of our town and villages, as well as protecting our Green Belt, in their response to the government consultation on the SE Plan. Addressing the Council's Executive at their meeting on Thursday last week, Lib Dem Group Leader Cllr Fiona White urged the Executive to protest at the government's proposal for 8440 additional houses to be built in Guildford borough by 2026, and to resist the use of green belt land for housing.

Zöe Franklin is the new Liberal Democrat councilor for Stoke ward after being elected on Thursday. Zöe won with an increased share of the vote (56%) and an increased majority (454).
